September 22nd, 2022 – The Town of Islip once again hosted its annual Health Fair at the Caesar Trunzo Senior Center in Brentwood. Seniors had the opportunity to receive flu shots donated and administered by Good Samaritan Hospital, a member of Catholic Health. Catholic Health additionally offered nutritional information, and trauma demonstrations, along with 30 other area organizations, who were on hand to provide information about Alzheimer’s disease, respite care and beneficial lifestyle choices.
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office also participated in the fair, providing Medical ID Cards and Yellow Dot information—a free program intended to expedite first responders’ actions following a crash or other emergency. The program places a Yellow Dot on the driver's-side rear window of the vehicle, alerting first responders that vital medical information is stored within the glove compartment.
"I'd like to thank Catholic Health, the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office and the many organizations who partnered with us for our annual health fair. This is a great way to bring valuable information to our senior population that may help identify an underlying medical issue, or simply inspire a healthier lifestyle," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
