October 24th, 2022 –More than 30,000 people attended the Town of Islip 2022 Applefest at the Islip Grange in Sayville Saturday. Spectacular weather provided the perfect backdrop for the event, which returned after a two year COVID hiatus.
Festivalgoers enjoyed merchandise from 300 vendors; FREE activities provided by Home Depot, Town of Islip Recreation Division; Sayville Library and Youth Enrichment Services (YES). The Scarecrow contest drew 30 creative entrants and a First Place Winner. The Town of Islip sold out of 400 apple and pumpkin pies as did the Sayville Fire Department and its apples and apple cider.
Southbound kept the crowd moving with line dance instruction and kids of all ages enjoyed carnival rides.
"It was truly wonderful to see so many families enjoying the Apple Festival after two years without it due to the pandemic. We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
