December 21st, 2022 – The Town of Islip conducted its annual Menorah Lighting Monday evening, hosted by Islip Town Supervisor, Angie Carpenter and Rabbi Shimon Stillerman of Chabad of Islip.

Dozens of members from the community attended the celebration, which included the Rabbi's message that just as the light of the Hanukkah candles illuminate a dark menorah, we as human beings have the power to turn dark times into light.

In attendance for the celebration were Councilman John Cochrane; Councilman Jorge Guadron; Town Clerk, Olga Murray; Receiver of Taxes, Andy Whittman; Deputy Commissioner, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, Dierdre Whalberg along with Parks and Recreation staff. Special 'Thank you' to Rabbi Stillerman and his wife Zeldy for the delicious latkes and donuts.
