March 8th, 2019 – Town of Islip Public Safety officials welcomed Life Coach/Leadership Coach Joseph Fox to their offices this week, to share his Core Principles of Leadership and Development Workshop with public safety staff. Fox, retired NYPD Chief of Transit, travels around the globe offering workshops to various arms of government.
"What an inspiring afternoon with the Town of Islip Public Safety team," said Fox. "Thank you, Town of Islip Supervisor and Town Board, along with Commissioner Anthony D'Amico and Deputy Commissioner Anthony Prudenti, for your vision and understanding that we can always learn and expand our mindsets," he added.
One of the highlights of the workshop was the reference to the book, "Good to Great," which begins with the concept—the enemy of great is good. Many organizations and individuals don't come near their potential because good is just that-good enough. "It is when we constantly strive to better ourselves and seek opportunities for growth that we reach greatness," said Fox.
"Our commissioners and department heads, in conjunction with our director of personnel, are committed to training staff so that they may reach their fullest potential," said Supervisor Carpenter. "We strive to provide the highest level of services to our residents, and to be proactive and forward-thinking in our training and safety," said the Supervisor.
