Town Square

A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

May 26th, 2023 – Long Island MacArthur Airport is a frequent hub for aircraft participating each year in the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach State Park. This year for the first time, the airport will also be on-site at the Air Show with an eye-catching immersive area featuring Breeze Airways.

“We want to reach out to aviation fans at the Bethpage Air Show. We know they love to fly, and Long Island MacArthur Airport wants to connect more fully with them,” said Islip Town Supervisor, Angie Carpenter. “Breeze is launching service to new destinations from MacArthur Airport with ‘Seriously Nice’ fares and service that make it an exciting option for many customers in Nassau County. Based on the location and other factors, the Air Show is a perfect opportunity for us to engage them,” she added.

The immersive pop-up display will feature a Breeze Airways mockup aircraft ideal for snapping and posting photos on social media. Additionally, the airport, owned by the Town of Islip, will be holding a Prize Drawing for elegant luggage, noise-cancelling headphones, and more. An airport “Street Team” will help spread the word on Breeze’s six non-stop destinations & two BreezeThru cities. “Our message is ‘Six Seriously Nice Destinations on New York’s Seriously Nice Airline from New York’s Seriously Nice Airport,’ and our hashtag is ‘Feel that Summer Breeze’,” said Shelley LaRose-Arken, Airport Commissioner.

“Guests at the Air Show Pop-Up will have an opportunity to win 30,000 BreezePoints good for travel for two to any of Breeze Airways’ six non-stop destinations,” said Gareth Edmondson-Jones from Breeze Airways. “Summer's a great time to visit our new routes from Islip to Portland, Maine; Raleigh-Durham; Richmond; or Pittsburgh -- or our existing routes to Charleston and Norfolk.”

“The Airport booth area will also feature a traditional canopy for information & interaction. We hope Air Show guests will come by and enjoy the friendly vibe of the experience,” LaRose-Arken said. “They can also hear radio advertisements on Air Show Sponsors KJOY, WALK and other Connoisseur Media stations. We are so excited to reach out to our customers at Jones Beach State Park and become more recognizable among the thousands of visitors enjoying the Air Show,” she added.
