June 13th, 2023 – Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the Islip Town Board recognized the talented students and vocalists of the Sweet Adelines, Central Islip High School’s Treble Choir, during the June Town Board meeting.

The group, under director Theresa O'Connor, competed against hundreds of talented choirs from across the nation, winning the title of Best Treble Choir in the prestigious Festival Disney competition. The Sweet Adelines also took home the "Gold Mickey" for Overall Best Choir, with a near perfect score of 99.

At the meeting, the Sweet Adelines wowed the audience with a near flawless rendition of "Mr. Sandman."

"These Sweet Adelines are ‘so good...so good...’ indeed," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. "I think Neil Diamond would be proud, but certainly not as proud as all of us here Town of Islip. Congratulations to these very talented young ladies," the Supervisor added.
