A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

June 13th,2019 – The Town of Islip continued its year-long 335 birthday celebration with a Living History Day at the Islip Grange in Sayville.

The history of Islip came to life Saturday through historical documents, re-enactments, encampments, interactive programs and tours, and participants in period costumes, all under bright sunny skies.

Town Historian George Munkenbeck and Town Clerk Olga Murray and her staff, along with historians and representatives from local Historical Societies provided insight into what life in the Town of Islip was like hundreds of years ago.

Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter, Councilmen John Cochrane and Jim O'Connor, Receiver of Taxes Alexis Weik and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Deputy Commissioner Dierdre Wahlberg were on hand for the event.

"The Town’s Living History Tour offered a fascinating look at what life was like here, hundreds of years ago. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard coordinating this event," said Supervisor Carpenter.
