– Ross Memorial Park played host once again to the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce annual tree lighting ceremony. Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter joined with Bruce Fabrizio, Brentwood Chamber President, in welcoming the many families, high school students, local elected officials and civic members who celebrated the return of the tree lighting to the park since its grand reopening in November. The Town was forced to close the park in 2020 after the Suffolk County Police Department identified illegal drug activity in the park.
With grant funding made possible by Assemblyman Phil Ramos, the Town of Islip made major improvements to the park, including a new playground with a soft play surface, new swings, a pavilion, new parking lot, decorative lighting and a picnic area.
"This is an incredible moment for our residents, the chamber and the Town, as we return to Ross Memorial Park and light this newly planted Christmas tree. May this tree grow as a symbol of Brentwood's strength and resolve," said Islip Town Supervisor, Angie Carpenter
