A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

January 4th, 2023 – Hundreds gathered at Touro Law School to witness Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter; Town Councilmen John M. Lorenzo and Michael J. McElwee, Jr.; Receiver of Taxes Andy Wittman and Town Clerk Linda D. Vavricka take their oaths of office, reaffirming their commitment to serve the residents of the Town of Islip.

Emceed by New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, remarks were given by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer; U.S. Congressman Andrew Garbarino and Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine. Clergy members from the Catholic, Muslim and Jewish faiths delivered moving blessings and the Central Islip High School Choir directed by Choral Director John Anthony, wowed the crowd with their performance.

Suffolk County Surrogate Court Judge Vincent J. Messina, Jr. administered Supervisor Angie Carpenter’s oath of office followed by her remarks to the audience.

"We have worked so hard for all of our residents, and the job is not over yet. We look forward to continuing to improve our infrastructure, including projects to make Town Hall more accessible, finish our Serenity Garden Project which will provide a community space that residents of all abilities can enjoy, continuing to expand Air Service at our own Long Island MacArthur Airport, and so much more," said Supervisor Carpenter.

"I am proud of what we have achieved together, and I cannot wait for what lies ahead. Some tease about my endless optimism and energy, but I can’t help but be optimistic about the future of our Great Town. Today, as we welcome new members of our Board, it re-affirms my faith that we are on the right course, and that we have so many good days ahead," said Supervisor Carpenter.
