June 14th, 2024 – The Bay Shore High School Model UN Team has had an impressive season, earning them recognition by Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the members of the Town Board recently.
This year, the team prepared rigorously for the prestigious New York City Model UN conference. After auditioning with speeches on Cuba's diplomatic history, each student earned their spot and represented Cuba in various committees. They became experts on complex topics, writing detailed position papers and honing their skills in resolution writing, problem-solving, and public speaking.
At the conference, they met with actual Cuban UN delegates, gaining valuable insights. They worked tirelessly to address global issues, from prison neglect to renewable energy, negotiating with other representatives to reach resolutions.
The dedication, skill, and teamwork exhibited by the Bay Shore High School Model UN Team exemplify true excellence and diplomacy.
“Their hard work and success bring pride to their school, community, and our Town. Please join me in congratulating the Bay Shore High School Model UN Team on a fantastic and unforgettable season!” said Supervisor Carpenter.
