June 26th, 2024 – This week, Long Island MacArthur Airport celebrates the announcement of new nonstop year-round flights between ISP and Fort Myers, Florida on Breeze Airways. Breeze will fly two times weekly to and from Fort Myers - on Wednesdays and Saturdays - beginning October 2. Breeze customers can book special limited-time introductory fares at flybreeze.com and on the Breeze app.
“MacArthur Airport customers made it clear that they want, need, and will support year-round flight options so they may conveniently travel between Long Island and Fort Myers,” said Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “The Town Board and I have been listening and working hard with our airline partners to meet the overwhelming demand for Fort Myers service. We’re thrilled that Breeze Airways stepped up to serve this much-loved route from easy ISP,” she added.
“As Breeze Airways takes delivery of more new Airbus A220 aircraft, we are able to continue to grow new service opportunities,” said Breeze Airways Co-Founder and Vice President Corporate Real Estate and Airport Development Jim Smith. “Long Island MacArthur Airport’s central location is perfect for reaching both Nassau and Suffolk County residents who love to travel, visit family, and often care for homes in both New York and Florida,” he said.
Breeze received its air carrier certification from the US Department of Transportation on May 14, 2021, having conducted proving runs and other certification requirements from an operational base at Long Island MacArthur Airport. The air carrier began commercial flights later that year, and now flies to over 150 destinations across the U.S. Breeze Airways now will serve nine direct destinations from ISP: Ft. Myers; Charleston; Norfolk; Richmond; Portland (ME); Raleigh-Durham; Vero Beach; New Orleans*; and Jacksonville*. *BreezeThru destinations – one stop / no plane change.
“We are actively communicating our support for new destinations to our air carrier partners. Today, we celebrate that effort with Breeze Airways and we could not be more grateful that Breeze recognizes our excellent location and the potential for additional growth and prosperity at ISP. This is another economic boost for jobs and the economy in this region,” Carpenter said.
“Breeze has continued to spread its wings at MacArthur Airport to the delight of customers across Long Island. With the addition of year-round Fort Myers service, Breeze now offers nine ‘Seriously Nice’ direct destinations,” said Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken.
Support for the airport within the Long Island community is stronger than ever as MacArthur Airport seeks to provide more options for convenient and affordable air travel. “Airports across the country are competing for Breeze Airways service. We’re glad our supportive community, active and loyal customer base, elected officials, and visionary businesses are joining with us to make a strong case for more service at Islip,” Carpenter added.
