September 9th, 2024 –Annually, Long Island MacArthur Airport’s fire rescue department and local mutual aid agencies come together to prepare and train for the unthinkable.
Live burn training is required by Federal Aviation regulations to ensure that individuals who are ultimately responsible to respond to an aircraft emergency - minor to major- are prepared and proficient.
"We are grateful to the members of the fire rescue department and local mutual aid agencies for their dedication. This is an important part of the airport’s emergency response program to ensure the safety of the traveling public and Long Island," said Islip Town Supervisor, Angie Carpenter.
