October 2nd, 2019 – Town officials, Northwell Health administrators, community activists, volunteers and local dignitaries gathered at Town Hall Tuesday, to kick-off Pink by the Bay, recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness month, with the simultaneous lighting of the Islip and Babylon Town Hall cupolas pink for the month of October. The Pink by the Bay event, sponsored by Northwell Health, is designed to raise awareness about early detection and prevention of breast cancer.
“This year’s theme, Pink by the Bay, was launched by Northwell Health, and is designed to raise awareness of Breast Cancer prevention, detection, and education within communities along the Great South Bay. Main Street will be illuminated in pink lights for the entire month of October. I urge women and men, to please schedule their mammography. Early detection is the best prevention,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Town Board members John Cochrane, Mary Kate Mullen; Receiver of Taxes Alexis Weik, and Town Clerk Olga Murray.
