October 7th, 2019 – More than 350 runners and walkers took to the streets of Islip Sunday for a 5 Mile Run/5K Walk to raise money for the Islip Breast Cancer Coalition.
Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter emceed the award ceremony, which included presenting a 1st Place Overall Medal to Town employee Mark Chasanoff, as well as to medal winner Town Councilwoman Mary Kate Mullen, the first female to cross the finish line.
The event was sponsored by “Hope Runs Here,” and hosted by the Town of Islip and the Islip Breast Cancer Coalition. Over 75 volunteers turned out to ensure the event ran smoothly. "Today's run/walk enables the Islip Breast Cancer Coalition to continue to provide the valuable support and outreach to those whose lives have been affected by breast cancer," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
