October 9th, 2019 – Town Council members John C. Cochrane, Jr., and Mary Kate Mullen, joined Town Historian George Munkenback at the Islip Grange in Sayville recently, to participate in a reenactment of the 1860s period in US history.
Accompanied by Co. K, 67th New York Volunteer Infantry, Co. C, the 9th Virginia, Co. B, the 30th Virginia, Co. H, the 14th Brooklyn, the 6th New York Independent Battery, Lee’s Light Artillery and The Sons & Daughters of Union Veterans, the Council members witnessed reenacted battles between the Blue and Gray, visited reconstructed camps and experienced period accurate music and stories.
