October 18th, 2019 – Town Councilman John C. Cochrane, Jr, recently attended the first installation ceremony of the newly founded Kismet Historical Society on Fire Island. The group first came together on July 21st, 2019 when members of the Kismet community, ranging 14 – 82 years of age, sought to bring the rich historical elements of their Fire Island community into public awareness, employing the latest technology to develop a virtual museum.
Islip Councilman Cochrane presented the inaugural board with a Citation of Recognition, commending their undertaking and congratulating their successful founding. The members of the first inaugural Kismet Historical Society Board are: Sam Wood, President; Cheryl Dunbar Kahlke, Vice President; Lawrence A. Cole, Treasurer; Craig Abruzzo; Casey Cole; Tesse Lambie; Joe McKeehan; Colette Weisser.
