December 23rd, 2019 – Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter led the closing ceremony of the Town's year-long 335th birthday celebration at this month's Town Board meeting.
Senator Phil Boyle presented the Town with a resolution paying tribute to the town's growth to present day, now the third largest town in the state of New York. Town Historian, George Munkenbeck donated historic documents from Islip Town's founders. Also included, a copy of current publications, Seniors Connect, and the Recreation Newsletter, along with the 2020 budget book.
"This has been a year of special events celebrating the Town, its founders and the residents that enjoy our town today," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. "This time capsule will be opened in 65 years, when the Town of Islip celebrates its 400th birthday," she added.
