A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

January 30th, 2020 Meghan O'Reilly, a junior at SUNY New Paltz, was recognized by Supervisor Angie Carpenter at Town Hall recently. The East Islip High School graduate completed a mural of an oyster's life cycle this summer at the Town's Shellfish Hatchery in East Islip.

O'Reilly was presented with a Town Certificate of Recognition from Supervisor Carpenter and DEC Commissioner Martin Bellew.

The 10' X 8' mural took approximately three weeks to complete. "Meghan volunteered her time to create this beautiful mural, and we appreciate her dedication to community service," said Supervisor Carpenter. "It is certainly an enhancement to our hatchery," she added.

"This mural illustrates the oyster life cycle in a tangible way, and is especially helpful to those young students who tour the hatchery," said DEC Commissioner Bellew.
