February 18th, 2020 – Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Islip Town Board, honored 8-year-old Ava McKiernan of East Islip at the February Town Board meeting for her Wreath’s of Joy wreath sale this past holiday season. The wreaths were sold to benefit St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Ava was inspired to create wreaths to sell within her community after seeing the St. Jude’s commercials on TV. Ava made and sold a total of 41 wreaths. Together with donations, she raised $800 for the sick children at St. Jude’s.

“Ava is truly an inspiration, and an example of what it means to be a role model,” said Supervisor Angie Carpenter.

Ava said she plans to continue to donate to St. Jude’s through her wreath sale each holiday season.
