March 26th, 2020 – Members of the Holbrook community stood outside their homes Thursday morning for an uplifting parade led by Merrimac Elementary School teachers.
The quiet suburban streets, once filled with the laughter of children playing before COVID-19 social distancing, were alive once again with the sounds of cheers and tooting car horns, as the motorcade made its way slowly through the neighborhood.
Parents, children and teachers held posters of love and support for one another under bright sunny skies...sharing hope that they will be together again soon.
"In these trying times, its moments like this that brighten spirits and are so uplifting for the members of our community," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
