April 24th, 2020 – Stanley's Bakery of East Islip gave away 80 loaves of free Italian bread to local residents in need Thursday. The much-loved bakery has been a fixture in the community for more than 60 years.
Customer favorites include Stanley's soft Italian bread, with or without sesame seeds. "We wanted to give back to our community. You have been so loyal and supportive of our bakery, we want to be able to give back something to you," said Ken Lowman, Stanley's co-owner.
Stanley's Bakery is accepting telephone orders for curbside pick-up during COVID-19, for those customers who do not wish to make in-store purchases.
"It is a testament to the character of our local business community, to see the neverending generosity during this public health crisis," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
Joining Ken Lowman is co-owner Linda Horman (l.) and Jamie Carrillo (r).
