September 2nd, 2020 – Dozens of kids attended their last day at the Town of Islip Byron Lake Summer Camp recently. Camp goers and counselors reflected on the fun activities they enjoyed during their time spent at the beautiful lakeside setting, and vowed to return next summer.
The Town of Islip was able to follow protocols set by the CDC, Suffolk County Health Department and NY State, while still providing the summertime fun children and parents have come to rely upon year after year. Daily temperature checks, regular hand sanitizer use and consistency among groups were some of the measures implemented by administrators and counselors.
"Despite the limitations created by COVID-19, the Town of Islip Parks and Recreation staff were able to provide a fun, safe and exemplary camp experience for our residents," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
