October 20th, 2020 – Islip Town officials broke ground on infrastructure improvements at the Caesar Trunzo Senior Citizen Center in Brentwood today. Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter announced that 120 new parking spaces, new street lighting, drains, curbs and the removal of compromised trees would commence. Officials anticipate the work will be completed in 6-8 weeks. The Caesar Trunzo Center is one of Islip’s most active centers.
"During this COVID pandemic, we want to continue to reach out to our seniors. We care about you, and today we are finally having the groundbreaking for this long-awaited expanded parking area. We look forward with all kinds of hope, to a time when our seniors will soon be back in the center, having meals together, playing cards together, and enjoying each other,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
Supervisor Carpenter was joined by Lorraine Pace, President of the Brentwood Senior Club, Mike Pace; George Talley; Commissioner, Public Works, Tom Owens and Town Councilman John Cochrane.
