November 6th, 2020 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, the Islip Town Board and the Islip Personnel Department this week teamed up with CHSLI Good Samaritan Hospital to administer flu shots to Town employees ahead of flu season. Flu vaccines were distributed by appointment, with COVID-19 safety protocols and social distancing measures in place.
This year, the challenges of flu season have been made even greater by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As health officials warn of a second wave of COVID-19 spikes, Supervisor Carpenter and the Islip Town Board are urging the public to take the necessary precautions in order to limit their risk and avoid overwhelming our healthcare system.
“We are continually grateful to Good Samaritan Hospital for their ongoing support and unwavering service to the employees and residents of our Town,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “This year, more than any other, it is essential that our residents schedule their flu shot in order to help prevent what experts have cited as a potential twin pandemic of COVID-19 and the flu virus. Seniors and at-risk individuals especially should not hesitate to get vaccinated,” Supervisor Carpenter added.
