November 25th, 2020 – Families throughout the Town of Islip will sit down to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner Thursday, thanks to the combined efforts of Islip Food for Hope, the Supervisor’s office and various Town departments. 800 turkeys and 800 “Boxes of Love,” containing all the trimmings for a holiday meal, were distributed at Casamento Park Tuesday.
Donations from the annual “Supervisor’s Breakfast,” which this year was held virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions, along with the efforts of Islip Food for Hope and donations of turkeys from various Town departments, will provide 800 food insecure families in the Town of Islip with a holiday meal.
For more than 20 years, Islip Food for Hope, Inc. has devoted its energy to passionately advocating for the hungry, needy and politically under-represented.
"Each year through our combined efforts, we’re able to help more and more families,” said Supervisor Carpenter. “We are particularly grateful for the generosity we have seen this year…a year that has presented unprecedented challenges for so many,” said the Supervisor.
