November 30th, 2020 – Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Town officials and members of the Town’s Public Safety division, to recognize a retiring veteran public safety officer recently. Sergeant Ed Carter, one of the Town’s first public safety officers, was celebrated with a traditional “walk-out.”
Public Safety Sgt. Ed Carter joined the Town of Islip in May of 1984 as an Engineering Aide in the Traffic Safety Department. In January of 1985, he was appointed to the Public Safety Department, defining a career built on dedication and devotion to duty that would span 36 years.
‘Sgt. Carter has devoted over three decades of service to our Town and its residents, providing leadership, guidance and mentorship to many of the younger Park Rangers,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “During his tenure, he received 9 awards for honorable service and two awards for bravery. We wish Sgt. Carter all the best in his retirement,” said Supervisor Carpenter.
