“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” — Angie
Abraham Lincoln once said, “I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.”
This is an unprecedented time for us all…in the Town of Islip, in our Country and all over the world…everything is changing, sometimes by the minute, and as your Supervisor I will continue to share the information as we receive it.
Myself and my fellow Town Board members want you to know that your health and safety is our first priority.
As the COVID-19 virus continues to spread, we are all finding ourselves impacted on many different levels. Fear and anxiety for our health, our loved ones, our jobs; transitioning to a new way of working and living; balancing work with childcare; homeschooling while schools are closed – and so much more.
While we can’t control the external factors around us, we can control our response to COVID-19.
Spring is here. It’s a symbol of rebirth and renewal. Let’s all endeavor to create something positive during these unsettling times.
Practice social distancing, keep that six feet away, and enjoy a walk, run or bicycle ride outdoors.
Spend quality time with your families. Reach out to loved ones through telephone, email or text.
The Town continues to follow Federal, State and County guidelines while in the midst of this pandemic. I continue to participate in daily conference calls with County officials, and will monitor and share all breaking information as it becomes available. We must remember to choose faith over fear and peace over panic.
Senior Centers and Recreation Centers are closed, but essential services are continuing.
We will continue to provide seniors with in-home meal delivery.
All Town Buildings are closed to the general public. We are asking residents to conduct their Town business online.
Appointments can be made under limited emergency circumstances, and only to address services that cannot otherwise be addressed online or by mail such as Death Certificates, or Marriage Certificates and for emergency situations only.
Passport Applications have been suspended until further notice.
Please note, Passport Applications are available at your local Post Office.
We have suspended parking meters in downtown Bay Shore indefinitely to facilitate pick-up of food orders from our restaurants.
This list will be updated as information is made available to us.
Please access the Town of Islip homepage at www.islipny.gov for up-to-the minute information from Federal, State and local officials. You can also visit our COVID-19 webpage for additional information.
The Town of Islip is made up of more than 330,000 residents. We endured 9-11 and Hurricane Sandy—and we will surely get through COVID-19.
I would like to end by sharing another quote… “If you don’t know the guy on the other side of the world, love him anyway because he’s just like you. He has the same dreams, the same hopes and fears. It’s one world pal. We’re all neighbors.” –Frank Sinatra
I will be in touch again, until then, stay healthy and safe, and remember we need to choose faith over fear…peace over panic. Thank you.
